of Balls Cabaret
Take the stage in this open mic hosted by Leslie Ball, also known as “the den mother of the Twin Cities art community.”
Leslie Ball is the founder and host of BALLS Cabaret, a weekly experimental stage for artists of any discipline, at any level of experience. The cabaret continually wins awards as the best open stage in town and it was recently cited in the New York Times as a “must-see” in the Twin Cities. Leslie has also performed in music clubs and theaters across the country.

Twin Cities Runoff is a magazine by and for local writers, with a focus on long-form storytelling and journalism – and we want to encourage you to read or perform your own true stories and other original work. This open mic event will feature Twin Cities Runoff writers and editors, so add your voice to our growing community!
Deborah Carver is the editor and publisher of Twin Cities Runoff and a writer working in the Twin Cities.

Improv Storytelling

You are invited to a fun-filled improvisational storytelling competition. Tellers will be recruited from the audience and will tell a 2-3 minute improvisational story based on topics submitted by the audience. The audience will vote for the best storyteller, who will receive a prize.
Andre Heuer D.Min. is a clinical social worker who uses storytelling with individuals suffering severe illness and facing life’s challenges. He has produced numerous storytelling events including Experiments in Story and the Healing through Story Conference in Minneapolis.
